Notes

General Note
Publishers and dates vary.
General Note
Originally written sometime between 1591 and 1595. The play was published in 2 quarto editions before the publication of the first folio of 1623. The Q1 text contains many differences from later editions. Q2 is about 800 lines longer than Q1 and is considered to be the better quarto. Later printings and modern versions are usually based on Q2.
General Note
Treated as a "blanket" record for the classic Shakespeare work in English. Other versions with criticism, illustrations, adaptations, etc. cataloged separately.
General Note
The eBook may be available on Gutenberg.org.
Description
The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, commonly referred to as Romeo and Juliet, is a play by William Shakespeare concerning the fate of two young lovers who would do anything to be together.
