Description
In the rainforest of Ecuador live the Tonampare, a community of Huaroni. They are legendary and have lived isolated for many years, due to their temerity. They introduce themselves as "Huaos”, which means persons..."The idea of not subtitling the "huaroni"language has to do with the fact that I wanted to transmit exactly what I was feeling while filming a native community in an observational manner. The Huaroni, in their first contact with settlers, didn’t understand the language either, and had to slowly adapt to their customs and objectives. In this case the idea is that us, as spectators, adapt in order to understand their way of living. That by contemplating their day to day we realise that even though we can’t understand their language, there are other things that can connect us to their actions and their thoughts. A journey begins between two parallel universes: the universe of things just as wee see them, and a universe in which our minds relate this that we see with our own particular life. " - Director, Juan Baldana
